Your privacy matters to us, and we are committed to protecting your personal data.

This document explains how the Savier app, the extension and our websites (getsavier.com and saviersystem.net) collect and handle data.

In this privacy policy you can find out what information we collect on getsavier.com, how we use it and how we store it.

You can also read about your options for viewing or deleting personal data, and about the measures and procedures we have put in place to keep that data safe.

What personal data do we collect, and why?

On getsavier.com we collect data to make the site work, to analyse traffic, and to measure and target our marketing. Apart from strictly necessary cookies, this only happens if you give your consent. If you choose to fill in a contact form or sign up for our newsletter, we naturally also collect personal data from you.

Hosting

Simply is the data processor for this website. Simply provides hosting services, which means that data submitted to the website is processed and stored by Simply.

Contact forms

The website uses a contact form where you can enter your name and email address. Simply is the data processor for this.

Cookies

Embedded content from other websites

This website may contain embedded content, for example Facebook pages, Facebook posts and YouTube videos. Embedded content behaves exactly as if you had visited the website in question, which means it may collect data about you and use its own cookies to track any interaction, if you are logged in to that website.

A simple website used only to help you activate the extension via the app. It uses functional cookies only.

The following information is collected:

  • An auto-generated UUID (unique user ID)
  • Operating system (for example Windows or iOS)
  • User agent, used to identify the browser (for example Safari or Chrome) and the device (iPhone X)
  • The version of the extension (or app)
  • A timestamp for when the page loads

Hosting: Simply is the data processor for this website. Simply provides hosting services, which means that data submitted to the website is processed and stored by Simply.

The extension

The extension uses functional cookies only.

Savier does not require a personal account with a name or email address. Instead, a pseudonymous, auto-generated unique user ID is stored for each user. Activity data is stored against this ID for functional purposes, including help with activation, your settings, and enabling Savier’s features.

The extension stores the following against your user ID

  • An auto-generated UUID (unique user ID)
  • Operating system (for example Windows or iOS)
  • User agent, used to identify the browser (for example Safari or Chrome) and the device (iPhone X)
  • The version of the extension (or app)
  • We read the pages you browse, but as a rule we only store the domain. We do not store the specific URL unless a discount code flow returns an error and we need the URL for troubleshooting.
  • Whether other shopping extensions that may conflict with Savier are enabled in your browser
  • “Cooldown” timestamp: whether and when the extension has paused due to high activity
  • Feedback submitted through the extension: your rating, your message and the address of the page you sent it from. The message is stored against your user ID and forwarded at the same time to our support inbox at kontakt@savier.dk so that we can read it and follow up. We never ask for your name or email address, but if you write contact details in the message yourself, they are stored along with it.

What other data does the extension collect for functional reasons:

  • When you visit a website, the extension sends the site’s domain (for example example.com) to our server to check whether it is a webshop we support. This happens on every page you visit, not just on webshops. We only receive the domain, not the full address. If the page is a supported webshop, the extension also sends the page address and product information so that we can find discount codes, show reviews and compare prices.
  • The extension tests discount codes to assess how effective they are and to update its algorithm.
  • Manually entered discount codes are collected and shared only with the permission of the user who entered them
    • Important: we encourage you not to share exclusive codes, with Savier or anyone else.
  • On supported shops, the extension collects data such as visit counts, basket amounts, savings and transactions.
  • General product information such as price and availability is also recorded
  • Logs of events or errors, such as clicks inside the extension

In addition, the following is stored locally in your device’s browser:

  • Browsed domains (not full URLs) with timestamps.
  • We cache URLs in the following cases:
    • visits to products related to our price comparison, to make the service faster
    • clicks on advertising links, to avoid double activation within 24 hours

Hosting

AWS is the data processor for this service. AWS provides hosting services, which means that data submitted to the service is processed and stored by AWS in European data centres.

The iOS app

The following information is collected when you use the iOS app

  • If you consent to marketing cookies, we share data with Meta and TikTok to measure the effect of our advertising campaigns, including the number of app installations and extension activations. This happens through an SDK, a third-party tool used to collect or analyse data. We use it to optimise how the app is used and to improve our marketing strategy. Meta and TikTok are independent data controllers for their own processing of this data, and that processing may take place outside the EU/EEA, including in the United States. The transfer is based on the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses. You can withdraw your consent at any time in the app settings, after which we will not send any further data to Meta and TikTok.
  • Local storage means that certain data is stored directly on your device. This data includes your preferences, app settings and your user ID (not your email address or name)
  • Permission for push notifications
  • The extension is part of the app once it is activated. See the bullet list above for a complete list of the data collected.

Our legal basis for processing your data

We only process your data when we have a lawful basis for doing so. Below you can see which basis we use for which purposes.

Consent (GDPR Article 6(1)(a))
Cookies and similar technologies on our services beyond the strictly necessary ones, meaning preference, statistics and marketing cookies. Sharing data with Meta and TikTok to measure the effect of our marketing in the iOS app. Signing up for our newsletter. Permission for push notifications. You can withdraw your consent at any time. This does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out before it was withdrawn.

Contract (Article 6(1)(b))
Processing that is necessary to deliver the features you have chosen to install and use. This includes the pseudonymous user ID, activation of the extension, checking whether a page is a supported webshop, testing and applying discount codes, price comparison and showing reviews, as well as local storage on your device that makes the service work.

Legitimate interest (Article 6(1)(f))
Processing that is necessary to run and improve the service securely, and where we have assessed that our interest is not overridden by your rights. This includes error logging and operational monitoring, preventing misuse, statistics on how Savier’s features are used, recording affiliate clicks so that we can settle commission and avoid double activation, and handling feedback you send us.

Legal obligation (Article 6(1)(c))
Where the law requires us to retain or disclose information, for example under accounting legislation or following a decision by an authority or a court.

We do not process special categories of personal data as defined in Article 9.

Your options for managing your data

How long do we keep your data?

We keep data for different lengths of time depending on the type of data. Data is never kept for longer than the law permits. The retention period depends on the nature of the information and the reason it is being kept.

Your rights

You have the right to access the data we process about you, and to have it corrected, deleted or restricted. You can object to processing based on our legitimate interest, and in certain cases you can receive your data in a machine-readable format. If you have given consent, you can withdraw it at any time without affecting the lawfulness of processing carried out before then. Cookie consent is withdrawn in the cookie settings, and marketing consent in the app settings.

Write to kontakt@savier.dk and we will respond within one month. Deletion does not cover data we are legally required to retain.

We have no database of names or email addresses, so we can only locate your data using your user ID. You will find it in the extension under Settings, Advanced, User ID. If you have uninstalled the extension, we cannot identify you.

Protecting your data, and our procedures

Your data is stored securely with the hosting provider for the website, Simply, which is the data processor for the website, and with AWS, which is the hosting provider for the app and extension, with servers in Frankfurt.

A data processing agreement is in place between the data controller for these services and these hosting providers, setting out how data is secured and the procedures that apply in the event of a data breach.

In the event of a security breach, we report it to the relevant authorities and contact any affected users. We will work to stop the breach as quickly as possible so that the personal data involved is secured.

We do not sell your personal data. We share data with the suppliers and partners needed to deliver the service. They may only process the data on our instructions and for the purposes described here. Beyond that, we only disclose data where we are required to do so by law or following a decision by an authority or a court.

Transfers to countries outside the EU/EEA

As a rule, our data is stored in European data centres. However, when you use getsavier.com and the iOS app, data is shared with Meta and TikTok if you have consented to marketing, and these companies may process the data in the United States. The transfer is based on the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses. You can withdraw your consent in the app settings.

About affiliate links in the browser extension

Our business model is to earn money through advertising partnerships, including a partnership with Pricerunner, which we use to offer live price comparison and which we link to via advertising links.

We also have partnerships with other advertisers, either through direct partner agreements or through so-called affiliate networks, where we measure the effect of traffic and engagement from Savier and are paid for referrals.

Savier therefore links to advertising partners who have their own privacy policies.

Guidelines for activating affiliate links

Our overall guideline for activating affiliate links follows the terms of the partner network the agreement runs through. At the same time, we follow Google’s own guidelines, under which affiliate links are only used where they provide a transparent benefit to the user, as well as Apple’s App Tracking Transparency guidelines.

Savier’s position is that affiliate links are activated solely through active user interaction, and only where Savier contributes positively to the customer journey.

When you use Savier’s features or click a link to one of our shops or partners, an affiliate link opens. The purpose of that affiliate link is to tell the shop’s or advertiser’s partner network that you were referred by Savier or used Savier in connection with the purchase. If you then complete a purchase, Savier receives a small commission at no extra cost to you.

When are affiliate links activated?

Savier only activates affiliate cookies through an active action on your part, never automatically without a click. This happens in connection with our core features, for example when you:

  • Click a campaign or an offer that Savier shows you
  • Click a link in our discount code library in the app
  • Use the discount code feature in the extension
  • Use features such as Trustscore, Live Price Check or Shopping Tips

Which affiliate networks do these run through?

Affiliate links are serviced by so-called affiliate networks, through which our agreements with the individual webshops run. We work with the following networks (advertising platforms): Pricerunner, Vio, Adtraction, Partnerads, Awin, Tradetracker, Tradedoubler, Impact, CJ, Addrevenue, Daisycon, Partnerize, Trackwise, Sovrn, Skimlinks.

For webshops: attribution

Beyond traffic, the value Savier creates for the advertiser or shop is an improved conversion rate and user journey, because Savier keeps the user from leaving the basket to go looking for discount codes. The user stays at checkout with the confidence of getting the best possible price. For the same reason, situations where the user does not achieve a concrete saving, for example where a discount code was not valid for that particular basket, are still classed as a value-creating touchpoint.

It is important to stress that it is the terms set by the individual affiliate networks that determine which affiliate is credited for a sale. The fact that a transaction comes from a Savier user who used our features to find a product, and that a cookie was therefore registered, does not mean that we receive commission for that transaction. It is the respective policies and terms of the programmes within the partner network that determine how an advertiser may be promoted, which referrals are cancelled, overwritten or split, and which are attributed on a “first click”, “last click” or entirely different basis.
