Information about ad links (affiliate links) in the browser extension
Our business model is to earn money through advertising partnerships, including a partnership with PriceRunner, which we use to offer live price comparison, where we link via advertising links.
In addition, we have partnerships with other advertisers, either through direct partner agreements or so-called affiliate networks, where we measure the effect of traffic and engagement from Savier and receive payment for referrals.
Savier therefore links to advertising partners who have their own privacy policies.
Guidelines for activating affiliate links
Our overall guideline for activating affiliate links follows the terms of the partner network that the agreement runs through. At the same time, we follow Google’s own guidelines, under which affiliate links are only used when they provide a transparent benefit to the user, as well as Apple’s guidelines for App Tracking Transparency.
Savier’s position is that affiliate links are only activated through active user interaction, and only when Savier contributes positively to the customer journey.
When you use Savier’s features and/or click a link to one of our stores or partners, an affiliate link is opened. The purpose of this affiliate link is to tell the store’s or advertiser’s partner network that you were referred by or used Savier in connection with the purchase. If you then complete a purchase, Savier receives a small commission, at no extra cost to you.
When are affiliate links activated?
Savier only activates affiliate cookies through your active action, never automatically without an active action in the form of a click. This happens in connection with our core features, for example when you:
- Click on a campaign or offer that Savier shows you
- Click on a link in our discount code library in the app
- Use the discount code feature in the extension
- Use features such as Trustscore, Live Price Check or Shopping Tips
Which affiliate networks do these run through?
Affiliate links are served by so-called affiliate networks, through which our agreements with the individual webshops run. We work with the following networks (advertising platforms): PriceRunner, Vio, Adtraction, Partner-ads, Awin, TradeTracker, Tradedoubler, Impact, CJ, Addrevenue, Daisycon, Partnerize, Trackwise, Sovrn and Skimlinks.
For webshops: Attribution
In addition to traffic, the value created for the advertiser or store is an optimised conversion rate and user journey. Savier ensures that the user does not leave the basket to search for discount codes, but instead stays at checkout, and gives the user confidence that they are getting the best possible price. For the same reason, situations where the user does not achieve a specific saving, for example if a discount code was not valid for the basket in question, are still categorised as a value-creating touchpoint.
It is important to emphasise that the conditions set by the respective affiliate networks determine which affiliate is credited with the sale. Just because a transaction comes from a Savier user who has used our features to find a product, and a cookie has therefore been registered, does not mean that we receive commission for the transaction. The policies and terms of each programme in the partner network dictate how the advertiser may be promoted, which referrals are cancelled, overwritten or split, and whether attribution is based on “first click”, “last click” or another model entirely.
Please also note that an affiliate link opens in a new window, precisely to avoid friction for the user in the form of the browser window refreshing.
